Remember When: He was wrongly penalised for fouling the Portugal goalkeeper
Will Keane earned a place in Stephen Kenny’s Ireland squad by starring for Wigan Athletic where he scored 48 goals in 119 appearances.
He earned a move to Preston North End off the back of his exploits for the Lactics and maintained his form at Deepdale with a string of important goals in 2023.
Keane is yet to make a huge impact in the Irish jersey but did prove a handful for Portugal when he came on in the 2021 0-0 World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.
Keane outmuscled the Portugal keeper to set up Matt Doherty for a potential last gasp winner, but the referee saw it differently and awarded a free out.
